Waitoru Farm (meaning three waters in Maori)
Is a 40 acre organic farm set up for horses backing onto Maramarua Forest.
Waitoru Farm has natural grazing track systems with two riding tracks around the farm perimeters. It is set up to emulate the horse's natural living environment, to allow horses to interact and graze and behave as they would naturally. No square paddocks, no poisonous pastures, no boring stables. The pasture is low sugar, high fibre and rich in nutrients. It is organically farmed for optimal horse health.
The horse are given organic hay and are naturally exercised on track daily. Owners live on site and have over 30 years combined experience in farming, natural horsemanship and horse management.
You can enjoy riding in the expansive forest, around the lake and on the farm.
We also have a 60 x 40 all weather arena and 20 metre round pen.
You can also take advantage of the services provided by All About Horses. We have clinics and lessons in Natural horsemanship and natural horse management. These help build confidence, communication, trust and care so you learn to understand your horse and stay safe.
- "The track system and living in the herd is great for my horses. They can act like horses and there is nothing more beautiful than seeing the whole herd go for a gallop. The track system has helped my younger horse keep off excess weight and has helped my older horse to keep moving. Both horses are more relaxed than they have ever been. Kirsten looks after them like they are her own horses. The arena and jumps are fantastic, while the forest offers great variety in riding." Racquel - Auckland
- "I gave my horse into Kirsten's care hoping to have a better chance at finding a good home for him being located centrally. I was very impressed with the way she is doing things differently regarding horse care and maintenance and was hoping to attract the right sort of people as potential homes. She has assisted me in every way possible achieving just that. My horse has found a good home and I think that Kirsten has put in her help beyond the conventional to make it happen. I think she provided a great service for boarding and for helping me find the best home for my horse. I couldn't recommend her services enough as it provides a healthy way of living for horses and thus makes them very chilled and willing partners." Annemarie - Invercargill
